The Monaghan Peace Campus is a landmark civic and cultural development in the heart of Monaghan town, bringing together a cultural heritage centre, library, youth facility and shared community spaces within a striking four-storey building.

Designed by Hall Black Douglas Architects, the project was created as an inclusive and accessible civic destination, transforming a former brownfield site into a new focal point for the town. The building's sculptural form and carefully considered public spaces provide a strong connection between the surrounding streetscape and the community facilities within.

XO Tile supplied a range of Atlas Concorde surfaces for the project, with different formats and finishes selected for both internal and external applications.

The project features Boost Stone Grey and Boost Stone Tarmac Grey, providing a contemporary stone-inspired palette across the development.

Boost Stone Grey in 20 mm was used externally, providing a robust and durable surface suited to the demands of the surrounding public realm. The substantial 20 mm format gives the external areas a strong architectural presence while complementing the building's distinctive form.

Boost Stone Tarmac Grey was also specified in a substantial 1200 × 1200 mm format, creating a clean and contemporary appearance across the larger areas of the project.

Additional areas feature Boost Stone Grey and Boost Stone Tarmac Grey in 600 × 600 mm formats, allowing the material palette to be adapted across different spaces while maintaining a consistent visual identity.

The completed Monaghan Peace Campus has become an important new civic landmark for the town, bringing together architecture, public space and community facilities within a single development.

The project has received significant recognition for both its architectural quality and its approach to accessibility and public use. It received the RIAI Public Buildings Award and Universal Design Award in 2025, while in 2026 it was awarded the Liam McCormick Prize for Ulster's Building of the Year by the Royal Society of Ulster Architects.

The result is a high-quality civic environment that demonstrates how carefully selected materials can support both architectural ambition and the practical demands of a major public building.
